What is PCF?
Post-consumer recycled fiber (PCF) is one of the materials Eco Products uses to make their new line of Evolution World hot cups. To understand what PCF is, it helps to have an understanding of the difference between pre-consumer and post-consumer waste.
Pre-consumer waste is a material that was discarded before it was ready for consumer use. Pre-consumer waste is the reintroduction of manufacturing scrap (such as trimmings from paper production, defective aluminum cans, etc.) back into the manufacturing process.
Post-consumer waste, on the other hand, is material discarded after someone uses it. Post-consumer waste has already served its intended purpose, passed through the hands of a final consumer, and has been discarded for disposal or recycling.
The new line of Evolution World hot cups from Eco-Products are made with 24% post consumer recycled fiber. That means that 24% of the fiber used to make these cups has already served a purpose as something else (office paper most commonly), was sent through the recycling stream, and then re-purposed into food service grade paperboard. This paperboard is certified by the FDA for food service use.
Offering products with post consumer recycled fiber has the added benefit of helping stimulate demand for recycled paper, thus helping support the recycling markets here in the United States. LetGoGreen.biz is proud to introduce a new line of recyclable hot cups made from post-consumer products as one more cost-effective way for homes, businesses, restaurants, caterers and others to go green while saving money. |
Interview with Kyle Jodice, CEO, LetsGoGreen.biz
There are now many green e-commerce sites available who sell green products ranging from soy candles to organic cotton diapers, but few are currently as successful in niche marketing as LetsGoGreen.biz.
LetsGoGreen.biz's CEO and founder, Kyle Jodice, is a bit of a celebrity in Georgia, where his products and company have been the subject of numerous local TV interviews and articles. Salazar Packaging recently caught up with Kyle to discus the movement towards green packaging during a sit-down interview with Salazar's "Inside Sustainable Packaging" blog. |

LetsGoGreen.biz is pleased to help sponsor the 11th annual Topanga Earth Day Festival on April 17th & 18th, 2010
In a magical land with ancient oak groves and each breeze whispers love delivered by the ocean, there lived a community of unique inhabitants. They reside between the "valley of rainbows" an ocean of dolphins, and evening concerts by chanting coyotes.
A local tribesman named "Woody" called upon a group of peaceful warriors to form a gathering that would bring honor and celebration of this land. He announced a "union of music, science, arts, healing, ceremony, tradition and sustainability " for all creatures. Together, a committee organized and collected the special ingredients needed to fulfill all that had been envisioned. A festival was created.
He named it Topanga Earth Day.
Get the picture? Cool. In addition to rainbows and unicorns, there will be two days of music, guest speakers, gallery of ecological artists, non-profit organizations, biodegradable solutions, an environmental demonstration area, ecological products and services, alternative energy, optimum healing arts, living by example workshops, tribal elders, organic food & beverages, sustainable solutions, green technology, composting, and other "hands on" green events for all ages and all cultures.
In the spirit of the festival’s ideals and purpose, an eclectic roster of international, national and local Los Angeles-area bands will perform on two stages during the weekend-long festival. Luis Conte’ & Afro Cuban Latin Jazz, Leon Mobley & Da Lion, Marc Ford (sitting in with Big Organ Trio), Tea Leaf Green, Lili Haydn, Steve Molitz and Josh Clark of Counter Clarkwise are a sampling of the notable bands scheduled to play. World music, blues, afro-Cuban, reggae, folk, funk, rock and more are among the expansive musical genres represented.
All Vendors are required to use compostable/biodegradable dishes, cups, & utensils for the event, and LetsGoGreen.biz is please to be the primary source for the event. It sounds like a great time, and if you live in the Los Angeles area you should definitely check it out.
